The performance of a leather cutting machine is sometimes regarded as related only to the raw speed of the cutting head. In recent years, the CNC cutters can cut faster and faster. Also, some manufacturers launched machines with 3 and even 4 cutting heads to increase speed. But, in most cases, the speed alone doesn't improve the real productivity of the cutters, because the machine must wait for other processes to finish. This is where the Thagora system can show its value by optimizing the cutting process on CNC machines, and increasing their efficiency.There are many other factors that determine the efficiency of a cutting machine, besides raw speed:- The build quality

Architecture of the machineAlthough there are cutting machines with 3 or even 4 cutting heads, this feature alone may be insignificant for the overall cutting speed. It doesn't matter if the cut process is done very fast if the cutting heads stop and wait for the lay and collect processes to be completed (especially when the parts are large, with regular shapes). So, the speed of a cutter must be assessed on a different formula:Total time of cutting = time of laying + time of cutting + time of collectingThe architecture of the machine has also a big influence on this matter:- If the models have large parts, or mixed parts, with regular shapes, one head is enough for a good speed
- If the models have smaller parts and/or many notches, increasing the speed of cutting by changing the settings might not be an option, because the blade can make unclean cuts, especially on difficult shapes or it can even brake
The goal is to achieve a good correlation between all three phases of the cutting process (lay, cut and collect), so that the machine works fast, but also as much as possible, without lost time. Also, it is important that the whole process is completed by as few operators as possible.
